Taking Your Work Home With You

Do you check your work email from home? If you are like more than half of the respondents to Doubleclick's Sixth Annual Email Survey, there's a good chance you do. According to the survey, 55 percent of respondents check their work email in the evening and 54 percent check it on weekends. Now, why would you check your work email when you aren't working? Is it curiousity or are you so overwhelmed by work that you are unable to step away from it for even a few hours. Chances are it's the latter. A survey conducted by the Families and Work Institute a few years ago showed that one-third of all American employees feels overworked, or overwhelmed by the amount of work they have to do. Checking email during off hours or doing any work-related tasks during that time certainly isn't the solution.
