Turn Your Hobby Into Your Career
Monday August 21, 2006
If you could do something you love all day long and earn money while doing it, would you? I just read an article on Newsday.com about a couple who bought a goat farm and are in the process of expanding operations. The wife was a nurse. She gave up her job and works on the farm full time. She wanted to raise horses but has settled for goats. The husband, who is a doctor, is cutting back on his hours in order to spend more time on the farm. Many people look to their hobbies for inspiration when choosing careers. People who love gardening get jobs in nurseries, those who love knitting open yarn stores, and outdoor enthusiastics decide to become park rangers.
It is possible to make a living by turning a pastime into a career. When choosing a career you should take into account your interests, and what better way to do this than turning your hobby into your career. There is a downside to this. You may find that spending all day on your hobby causes you to become less passionate about it. As with any other career choice, you need to do your homework before you make your decision.
