More Than 75 Percent of Employees Want a New Job

Thursday January 4, 2007
If you want to quit your job you are in the majority, according to the 2006 U.S. Job Retention Poll which was conducted by the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) and CareerJournal.com. Respondents to the poll included 367 human resources professionals and 462 employees. The HR professionals, randomly selected members of SHRM, reported on voluntary resignations among workers at their companies. Employees who were polled, a convenience sample of visitors to CareerJournal.com, reported on their own intentions to leave their jobs. Both the HR professionals and the employees stated that the top reasons for voluntary resignations were better compensation elsewhere, career opportunity elsewhere and dissatisfaction with potential for career development.
