Voting and Your Career

Saturday July 21, 2007
I can't remember a presidential election season starting as early as the 2008 one has, nor can I remember one with as many potential candidates. I can't believe we're going to have to keep hearing about this for the next 13 months. Hopefully the candidates will stick to the issues instead of resorting to mudslinging. Hopefully the media will too. My other wish is that American voters will truly listen to the candidates' views on the various issues that affect our country ... and there are many. I'm always eager to hear candidates discuss issues that affect Americans' careers, for example. Will there be money put into job training? Will the candidate support an increase in the minimum wage? Will our civil rights be protected? These are just a few of the issues that can affect your career and therefore your livelihood. So, when you see a candidate on television talking about how he or she is going to make America better (and you will have plenty of opportunities), listen carefully to how he or she plans to do this. It could have a very direct affect on your life.
