House Passes Anti-Discrimination Bill

Friday November 9, 2007
On Wednesday the U.S. House of Representatives passed the Employee Anti-Discrimination Act of 2007 which will, if passed by the Senate, protect people of various sexual orientations from discrimination by potential or current employees. Like Title VII of the U.S. Civil Rights Act of 1964 which made it illegal to make hiring, promotion or compensation decisions based on one's race, color, religion, sex or national origin, the Employee Anti-Discrimination Act will make it illegal for employers to discriminate against a person based on his or her sexual orientation. I say, it's about time! One's sexual orientation does not make a difference in how one does his or her job and thereby should not influence whether one is hired, how one is compensated, promoted or treated by his or her employer. That's just my two cents. Want to add yours? Add your comments below.

I would never hire anyone who is gay because the work environment is directly affected by the attitudes and morals accepted by the employer. It is immoral and unnatural to be gay therefore I will never hire anyone who is gay. In addition, being Black has absolutely nothing in relation to being gay.
