I told that person I would have been a chef. I don't consider myself a great cook, but I think I do a better than average job in the kitchen and with the proper training I probably would be a great cook. I feel happy when I'm cooking, about as much as I do when I'm writing. And that is an excellent reason to make something your career. Working in the culinary arts isn't an easy job and the hours, weekends and evenings, are less than desirable for many people. That's why it's astonishing there is such a high level of job satisfaction in this field according to what I've read about it.
