Can You Turn Your Hobby Into a Career?

Monday July 14, 2008
I love hearing someone who has left a career she doesn't love to do something she would be doing even if she wasn't getting paid for it. Most often hobbies get relegated to your spare time. For example, you make time to knit or do whatever it is you enjoy doing, when you aren't working. Then you spend your workday wishing it was time to go home so you can spend time on your hobby.

What if you could both make a living and do something you love at the same time? You can turn your hobby into your career, but there are risks. Some people find that once their hobby becomes a job they lose the passion they had for it. Baking and decorating a cake for your best friend's wedding may be a lot of fun. For many people, spending your days doing something you love can be a great way to earn a living.
