Report Says Educated Older Workers Face Favorable Market

Saturday August 2, 2008
There's good news for older workers with college degrees according to a report from the Urban Institute, a nonprofit, nonpartisan policy research and educational organization. The report, Job Market for Aging Boomers Will Favor Brains Over Brawn, states that fast growing occupations that already employ many older workers (those over age 55) rely on an educated workforce.

The list of occupations includes: personal financial advisors, veterinarians, social and community service managers, surveyors, environmental scientists and geoscientists, registered nurses, instructional coordinators, postsecondary teachers, archivists and curators, social workers, management analysts, pharmacists, counselors, and business operation specialists. Personal and home care aides is the fastest growing area that is friendly to senior workers, the report also says. Read the Urban Institute's report.
