Emailing In Your Sleep

Friday December 19, 2008
Have you ever been so focused on your job that you even dream about it at night. When I'm particularly busy with work (read as "stressed out"), I dream that I'm furiously writing articles or blog posts. When I was working in the job information center of a public library I had dreams in which patrons were asking me questions. I woke up feeling frustrated if I couldn't answer them. I just heard a report on Good Morning America about people who send email in their sleep. One woman repeatedly emailed her boss. She kept her Blackberry on her nightstand and apparently sent the messages while dreaming about her job. Wisely, she moved her Blackberry to another room far from where she sleeps.

Clearly, sending email in your sleep isn't a good idea. Who knows what you might say — some people appear to have no control over the content of their messages they send when they're awake! I can't help you with sleep emailing, except to advise you to sleep far away from your computer or any email devices, but if you want some tips for messages you send while you are awake, read Questions to Ask Yourself Before You Hit Send.
