Career Camp

Wednesday June 24, 2009
I had never heard of career camp until I came across an article about a culinary arts camp and a health careers camp geared toward middle school students in upstate New York. Both these programs — and there are similar ones across the country — offer students the chance to get hands-on experience in future careers. A search for career camps on Google turned up several options. Busch Gardens and SeaWorld offer camp programs that let middle and high school students see what careers in animal health, behavior and care would be like. There's also a career camp at the Fort Worth Zoo and the Denver Zoo. Touro Infirmary, a hospital in New Orleans, has a two week career camp for high school juniors and seniors interested in pursuing careers in health. Use Google or your favorite search engine to search for local career camps that provide a hands-on experience in your field of interest.
