My landscaper, in addition to being very good at designing gardens, is great at remembering names. In a 10 minute conversation we just had, he used my first name no less than five times. I, on the other hand, am one of those people to whom everyone looks familiar but I can't remember their names. The part of my brain in which names get stored must be defective. Ask me what one of my dinner companions ordered when we went out for Indian food 10 years ago and I usually can tell you. Go figure. Remembering names, though, is very important recalling food choices, not so much. When you go on a job interview, for example, you should be able to remember the name of the person interviewing you. Fortunately, there are techniques you can use to help with this. On Susan Ward's About.com Small Business: Canada site, guest author Craig Harrison's article How to Remember Names provides you with 11 tips for name recall.

LOL… I just had to share my memory loss of names with you! (I’m glad I’m not the only one)! I was at our school orientation (as a new PTA Pres) and had been talking to and meeting so many new people recently and this particular afternoon I met one of my chairs and we briefly talked with another few parents and then went our separate ways. About 1/2 hour later I went up to this person–not realizing it was her– and another mom that I knew and we started talking and I looked right at the woman and said “you look so familiar, what is your name?” She laughed and said, “ah, we just met, I’m Amy, your council chair”! Talk about embarrassed!!! I blame lack of memory on my four kids! :0)
…… but how do you remember names of all the people in the meeting? it could be 40+ people and you know you will meet them really soon on the project, but you don’t know exactly who is going to be there?
