Earlier this week I wrote about the relationship between interests and career choice. You may want to learn more about your interests. If you do, you can ask a career counselor or other career development professional to administer the Strong Interest Inventory. This instrument measures your interests and helps you discover careers that are suitable for you based on this information. Please keep in mind that the counselor may prefer to use other instruments in addition to or instead of this one. He or she knows which assessment instruments are best for your situation.
If you are going to take the Strong Interest Inventory, it is a good idea to know what to expect. Read The Strong Interest Inventory: What is It and How is It Used in Self Assessment? for a brief history of this tool and a discussion of the report you will receive upon completing it.
