Anthropologists study how people currently live, or lived in the past, in various parts of the world. They look at their languages and cultures. They examine physical characteristics and archaeological remains. To become an anthropologist one needs at least a master's degree. Those who want to teach in a college or university should earn a PhD (Bureau of Labor Statistics, U.S. Department of Labor, Occupational Outlook Handbook, 2010-11 Edition).
