If you are anything like me you aren't very good at keeping in touch with your network contacts. The rules of networking dictate that you check in with them occasionally and not just when you need something. As it too often does, time gets away from me and before I know it many months have gone by and I haven't reached out to anyone. Well, lucky me (and you)! The holiday season is here and that presents a perfect time to send holiday or New Year's greetings. Feel free to get in touch after January 1st when everyone is back in work mode since you don't want your greetings to get lost in the shuffle of the holiday season. Give your contacts a brief update on what you've been up to, find out what they've been doing and make a date to get together after the hectic season is over.
Don't forget about all those holiday get-togethers. They give you the chance to meet new people and revisit old relationships. For example those cousins you haven't seen since you were a teen, your best friend's husband's brother, your in-laws friends and others can be added to your professional network.
