Would you like to take a test that can tell you what career to choose? We've come to expect instant gratification for many things these days so why wouldn't you expect to quickly get an answer to the question "What career is right for me?". As it turns out, there's no such thing as a career test, although that term is so commonly used you would think there was.

When you hear the words "career test" you may think of a single exam that tells you what career is best for you. Actually, there is something that can help you find suitable careers, but it isn't really a test and it doesn't provide simple answers. It's called a self assessment, and it consists of using several instruments in order to uncover your interests, personality type, work-related values and skills. The information you get from this crucial step in the career planning process can help you find occupations that could be a good match for you. The work involved in choosing an occupation, however, doesn't end there. Even if an occupation seems suitable based on the information gathered during your self assessment, you still need to learn a lot more about it before deciding whether it is or isn't the right career for you.
