Janitors clean and maintain apartment and office buildings, stores and malls, and hospitals and other health care facilities. They work inside and outside buildings.

If you are looking for immediate employment and are willing to work hard and get your hands dirty, consider looking for a job as a janitor. It is one of the occupations expected to have the most job openings through 2020 and it requires little preparation. Janitors are trained on the job by more experienced employees (Bureau of Labor Statistics, U.S. Department of Labor, Occupational Outlook Handbook, 2012-13 Edition).
