Bullying Can Happen in Any Workplace

It may be difficult to imagine a professional football player getting bullied ... by anyone. The news surrounding Dolphin player Jonathan Martin's allegations that teammate Richie Incognito bullied him is proof that it can happen to anyone, no matter how big or strong he or she is. And it can happen anywhere: school, a football field or the workplace. It is important to remember that those who are bullied aren't weak. Those who bully others are.

A workplace bully can make you want to quit your job. He or she can make you not want to get out of bed in the morning. Going to work everyday can be torture if you know you will face a bully when you get there. The person making your life miserable could be a co-worker or it could be your boss, which adds a whole new dimension to this problem. Regardless of who has made it his or her business to torture you, you have to do something about it—your job, your career and your mental well-being are at stake.
