It's that time of year again: time to talk about the office holiday party. Why does this have to be brought up year after year? I know it's just a few hours of your life and how you do your job is so much more important and says so much more about who you are as a professional and yada yada yada.
I know all that but that one drink too many, that teeny tiny short skirt, that hand on your colleague's knee can all have a detrimental effect on that career you are working so hard to build. That is why this advice warrants repeating. Don't give your coworkers a story to share with everyone who wasn't there. Don't give yourself any reason to feel embarrassed about walking into work the next day. And do not give your boss a reason to think less highly of you than he or she did before the party. It's a helpful reminderfor those who choose to listen to itof what behavior to avoid.
