When you leave your job it would be nice to be able to take your health insurance with you. There would be a lot you wouldn't have to worry about, like finding new doctors or getting coverage for preexisting conditions. HIPAA, or the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act, helps solve some of the problems you face when you have to change your health insurance plan, but it doesn't solve all of them.
