Happy National Library Week
Monday April 14, 2008
April 13 through 19 is National Library Week. I've always loved being in libraries, so much so that I eventually became a librarian. For several years I ran the job information center at a public library. That career led me to this one -- writing about career planning. After earning my bachelor's degree in marketing, I decided to get my Master's of Library Science degree (MLS). Those who want to work in the library science field but don't want to pursue that level of education have other options.
One can become a library technician with a high school diploma and experience, or with an Associates degree. Those who just have high school diplomas can become library assistants. Just as education requirements vary, so do salaries and duties. If you like the idea of working in a library and want to compare the various careers available read Library Careers: Options for Those Who Want Library Careers.
