The Internet is full of stories about co-workers behaving badly. What we don't hear enough about are co-workers doing nice things for one another. These stories do exist ... don't they? Has a co-worker covered for you when you were too sick to work? Did a co-worker get you a cup of coffee just because you looked like you needed it? Tell us about something nice a co-worker did for you. Share Your Story
Nice Nursing
- Soon after I graduated from college I got a job at a local hospital doing research studies. It was my first time working in a hospital and it was difficult to work around the routine of the doctors and nurses. It's not the nurses' job to help you, but they always would. One nurse especially would always help me out so I wouldn't get in the physicians' way. She could have left me stumbling around on my own but she knew that a little bit of help and I would learn and make her job easier. We are still great friends and I learned an important lesson. Even if you are busy, take a minute to help people out if they look lost and need it. A small part of your day can be a huge act of kindness for others.

- Mr J
- It's always nice to meet with nice people especially those that like your progress in life. I cannot forget my boss. He so much cared for my education and so many things.

Linda was my mentor
- Linda was my mentor when I was an impressionable teenager. She was my training officer and always helped me find good jobs with nice people and helped me build up my confidence as I was striving to find out what I wanted to do in the future with my life. She was a professional colleague and a friend who respected me and expected nothing in return for her good nature. I knew I could trust her and I will never forget her. This is the kind of thing that is hard to find.

Office Gossip
- At a time when i was at a very low point, a bill collector was calling the office. The receptionist spread the news all over the office, to her superior and then to mine. Out of the blue Lillian (a co worker that i had very little interaction with) reminded my boss about the policy of creditors calling the office. My boss relayed it to him and the calls stopped. She knew how embarrassed i was and how they were laughing. Lillian was never an ally, just someone doing the right thing..... she allowed me to keep my dignity and solved the problem...Instead of the evil that was meant, a good thing happened for me and any future situations like mine. A few years down the road, i got the same type of call regarding her (the gossiper). I admit I did think of what she'd done to me but i remembered how I felt and kept her secret.

Talking while golfing
- I had a business assoc who never thought twice about what he was doing, whether fam gathering, golfing, when it came time to answering my ph calls. He knew i was inexperienced in the line of bus we were in and always gave it his all to make sure my questions were clarified. He also went at bat for me whenever he knew sum1 was treating me unfairly. These are the coworkers you hardly ever come across these days and its really sad because that's what makes up a true office. The fact that we can know that there will always be ppl by our side willing to help us with no strings attached and on an unconditional level. Not on the fact of i will only help you and treat u nice if ur nice to me, that's not good sportsmanship. We shld be willing to always go that xtra mile no matter what! And that's what i truly admired n respected fm my prev coworker n really miss having that type of business relatioships cause they are truly valuable. I moved out of state so we stopped working together.

Working Extra
- I have many stories like this. Like getting gift cards and lunch from the salesmen and the boss. Recently on opening day of hunting season, our business got very busy. I came to work on the first two days of my vacation and much to my surprise, one of the pressman noticed that i was at work when he knew that i take vacation during hunting season every year, He came over to thank me for coming in those days to make sure that the clients got their projects on time. I actually work a lot of extra hours often, but it was nice to hear thanks from somebody that works beside me and did not benefit whatsoever for me working those days. Just goes to show you, sometimes there are people that appreciate what you do even when you don't realize they are watching.

Be part of not a part of
- For me nothing is more uncomfortable when in a group setting and you don't know who is who. I had a friend in that group party that took me around with him and introduced me to several of his friends and that broke the ice. I felt part of instead a part of. I have learned to reach my hand out and introduce myself to others today because of that friend who showed me how to break the ice in a group setting. Thank you friend!

My favorite coworkers
- They come by to say good bye at the end of the day. They always offer their help when we are working on deadlines...is there something I can do for you is commonplace. What I like the most is how hard everyone works and yet how often we like a good laugh.

nice not being electrocuted
- I was in the U.S. Air Force working on electronic equipment. I was in a room by myself struggling with a dangerous piece of gear when I realized I might be in over my head. He was suddenly standing along side me and said"let me help you with that". I didn't even know he had come in the room. He didn't even ask. He saw I was in trouble and he helped. We got it done and nobody got hurt. Thanks man. Wherever you are I still owe you for that one.

nice coworker
- I was in a car accident close to work. My coworker came to the scene, placed me in her van while I waited for the tow truck and to make a police statement, drove me home, helped me retrieve my things from the totaled car ... in the snow... and helped me with insurance problems. She also laughs at me, smiles when I walk in the door, and sometimes brings me coffee.

Nice Co-Worker
- We take turns covering the receptionist desk during lunch. There have been times when I couldn't just drop what I was doing to cover. My dear office neighbor on more than one occasion has jumped in and covered for me. Wish the whole office was like her.
