I liked it

I enjoyed my time as a cashier. I had plenty of costumers that would always came around, and always made nice conversation. It wasn't a hard job either. Just keep your drawer clean and organized, and everything will go smoothly.

Positives & Negatives of Being a Cashier

I work the whole store, I'm in charge of myself and train new employees. I work for a small store. A difference between small and larger stores is that small stores know you personally and in bigger stores you are a number. Being personally known can be a problem because everything is, well, personal. Being a number is hard because it's not personal. Maybe a medium size store is best. :) You must be excellent with customers, cheerful, and have energy. If you don't have this naturally, don't become a cashier. Try to find work where they drug and alcohol test. You will be working with part-time minimum wage people who work very hard to make ends meet. You will be one of them. This is a stressful environment and customers are sometimes evil. You need to know how to juggle many emotions and handle a diverse population. I am happy being a cashier. I like people. I do not like no benefits, little pay, and lazy upper middle management and bad co-workers. But the job is overall fun. :)

cashier

Being a cashier is only difficult if you secretly dislike people and are impatient. Customers can ask questions that don't make sense and then look at you like you're an idiot. You usually need to keep up your appearance, because you'll never know when your ex or crush will step through the door.
