Human Resources Assistant
- My current position is that of Human Resources Assistant within a Local Government Employee Relations department. I got into HR after 5 years working in administrative/supervisory positions. My job differs from the standard HR Assistant in that most of my work is related to projects and reviews and policy development. I specifically assist two HR Officers in various tasks and no 2 days are often the same. I could be drawing up Job Outlines and Person Specs or conducting a job evaluation or preparing notes from an investigatory hearing. I enjoy reading and interpreting policies and procedures and assist in the review and development of them. I work with employees at all levels in the organisation and this requires good communication skills. I have to ensure confidentiality is maintained at all times due to the nature of the work and also have to deal with sensitive issues such as staff being made redundant. This job can be high pressured and demanding, which I enjoy.
