its a nice job

i think that pta aides dont get paid enough and. physical therapist and pt assistants dont give pt aides enough credit for all the work they do. A pt aide performs the same duties execpt for modalities such, turning on estims, putting patients on a trackion machine, manual streatching and a few other minute things.

Physical Therapist Assistant

I work with orthopedic patients and find this work very rewarding because I am able to help people with disabling conditions and pain and get them back to their work and lives. However, the clinical environment (I work and have worked primarily in outpatient clinics) is not conducive to providing the best patient care. We are expected to handle 13-16 patients per day and bill 1 hour for each patient, which means I constantly juggle two patients at a time at a minimum. Some care permits me to leave a patient's side (modalities) but most care requires I work directly on the patient (manual therapy). This is very difficult and sometimes impossible with two or more patients at the same time. The outcome is that we sacrifice patient care in order to generate income. In addition, because the physical therapists I work with have similar caseloads, they are not available for mentoring and training, two things I looked for when interviewing. All clinics seem to operate this way.
